Airport operations nearly ground to a halt in Louisville, Kentucky, after a baggage screener was noticed asleep at his post. Hundreds of travellers had to be called back to security checkpoints and rescreened by an airline employee who was actually awake. Waking airline employees are nearly 10% more effective than sleeping airline employees.
CNN - An airline employee assigned to screen baggage at a security checkpoint was relieved of his duties yesterday when he was discovered to be asleep at his post. The only way to distinguish between a sleeping employee and an incompetent employee is to carefully measure the rate of drool coming down their chin.
The Transportation Security Administration, the government agency in charge of making sure this kind of thing doesn´t happen, gave a press release which stated "Printer Error 117: Communications fault on parallel port." The TSA is a brand new agency and is still working the bugs out of their computers.
Passengers had to be rescreened, causing massive delays and bringing the vital Kentucky high finance trading firm of Joe and Bob´s Seeds and Stocks to a standstill when both Joe and Bob had to be rechecked before their flight to Alabama to look at some sheep.
No sheep were harmed during the incident.
